Class A RVs at a Glance

They look similar to a bus, with a long body and flat front. Many are built on a bus chassis. Some people call them ‘apartments on wheels’.

There are 2 types: Gas and Diesel. The Class A Diesel is more powerful and fuel efficient than a similar gas model. Diesel models are often referred to as ‘diesel pushers’.

Their size typically ranges from 26 feet to 45 feet long. The longer rigs may not fit in some campgrounds—check before you book.

Depending on the model, they may sleep up to ten people.

Most have sections that slide out, further enlarging the interior.

They typically have full-sized appliances and sleeping quarters. 

They are more expensive than other RV classes.

No special driver’s license is needed.
