RV Memberships
Thousand Trails
This is our number one recommended campground membership. While the initial cost is higher than the others, the longtime savings far outshines any other membership. We do not recommend that you buy a new membership (except a zone pass if you want to test it out) but instead buy a resale. Check out our post about the different membership options for more information.
Passport America
This is an amazing backup membership. Thousand Trails campgrounds are not everywhere (looking at you, central US) so you will need a backup membership or two. This membership pays for itself in only a night or two. The savings vary by campground but we have had some great discounts for one night or weekly stays.
Good Sam Club
We picked up a Good Sam membership card while in a Camping World. The campground savings is the same as Passport America but 5% is 5%. We also have used the card to get a discount on diesel fuel at Flying J. There are a ton of places that will give a Good Sams discount so the savings will add up if you use it frequently.
FMCA has recently opened up membership to towables! This is a great membership that gets you access to a ton of perks like discounted rates at some parks, exclusive offers from Cell phone providers, amazing rates on tires and more.
Harvest Hosts
We do not have a Harvest Hosts membership but it has been highly recommended by other RVers. You can only stay one night on the hosts’ property which doesn’t fit our travel style. If you are someone who moves frequently or who tends to stop in Walmart parking lots then this is a membership you should check out. Who doesn’t want to spend the night next to a winery or brewery?
Boondockers Welcome
We do not have a membership to Boondockers Welcome yet but are planning to sign-up. We were too scared to boondock at the beginning of our adventure. This is great for those who want to be social AND save money. This membership gives you access to those around the US who have room on their property for your RV and are willing to let you stay for free. Some hosts even have hookups!
