I read the article and missed which vaccinations people wanted the dogs to have. Rabies is required and I carry that on my person when we travel. The Rainbow Parks are now requiring "core" vaccinations and I can't help but wonder, having read some parks have become run down, the parks may be attracting less than desirable long term residents with less than healthy dogs to start out with. I don't think one even has to be an Escapee member to be in the Rainbow Parks. I always thought membership was required and thought that was a good idea.

What this camper wants is for people to pick up after their dogs no matter what size they are, not leave them all day barking in their rig, not tie them on their lot and remain inside when the dog constantly barks at people passing by. We had someone come in after dark in this private park and we heard them driving stakes. I thought maybe they had a tent room. Nope! Took my dogs out and one was able to almost get to the drive where I was walking, 4 large and 1 small total. All frantically barked while the owners sat on the sofa watching TV - I could see them! I called the owner and it was taken care of quickly.

I keep my dogs healthy by keeping them away from other dogs.

We purchased rolls of poo bags a couple of years ago and each dog had a dispenser attached to their lead. We have often found ourselves using our bags to pick up after other critters. Mike Rowe would be proud of us! Bags are inexpensive and convenient (if you allow them to be) and all of your complaints are the same ones that we find very annoying.

for walks before sun up and occasionally after sundown. It keeps my hand free and the path lit to easily see the treasures my four legged friend leaves for me.

I agree that vaccination certificates should be required during registration.  We stayed at one site where the neighbor's dog showed many symptoms of Bordetella, and yet they let it run loose throughout the campsite.  Our dog has been vaccinated for this, but many younger dogs are not.  Glad to get out of there.

We carry our dog's rabies certificate and other shot records and health history in our truck.  They are available if we need to show them.

But, I like the idea of having to show the dogs vaccination records on check in.  I want my dog safe,

"Many symptoms of Bordetella". Please tell me what the "many" symptoms are. 90% of the pages on the web list a cough and possibly a runny nose. What else is there for kennel cough? There seem to be more reasons for a dog to cough, than there are symptoms of kennel cough.

I'm sorry, but do we need to show proof that our children have been vaccinated against chickenpox and mumps too? Or maybe we should have to present certificates that we have all been tested for hepatitis and aids. Mental health records maybe? Criminal histories? A letter from our minister saying that we are good Catholics and Presbyterians? Well, where will Baptists and the atheists camp? Oh my god, I could be camped next to a Wiccan with a mangy dog right now.

Ken says he wants his dog to be safe. I bet the chances of his dog getting snake bit or contracting rabies from a non domesticated animal are far greater than from another household pet while in a campground. There were only 59 confirmed cases of dogs with rabies nationwide in 2014, 14 from Texas. There were 78 rabid cows that same year. there was also a single rabid Llama in S. Carolina in 2014. Hmm, maybe we should ask the park ranger if all the raccoons, llamas and cows in the area have rabies tags?  

 My dogs are all vaccinated (got them done last week as a matter of fact) but where do we draw the line about what we need to show at an RV park? What do you do at home about strays and wild animals? Come on folks, life is what it is. You can catch the flu at the grocery store, the mall, at work or just staying at home and hiding.

Having recently undergone chemotherapy, I was instructed not to have my pets inoculated since that can carry over to me. Also all my vaccines from the mi.itary have now been wiped out. Do I need to stay out of rv parks with my pet? Granted it is a cat but she doesn't go Outside so I don't think there is any danger of her contracting anything. People worry too much.

in all my years. i have been bitten once by a larger mix.

and at least ten times by little chihuahuas.

. and once from a cat.

never by any of the guard dogs. or family pets.

so it can be the breed. but mostly how they are trained treated and cared for.

my two rotts loved everybody. except the kids who tried to break into the house through the back yard patio door, at 2:am.

Luckily, there are some blogs and some written stories (blogging is rarely writing) detailing some of the pratfalls of RVing with cats. One thing I know I'd have is one of those screen-walled dining tents. Could also be a screened-in playpen for the kitties. We'd never leave them alone (aggressive dogs, anyone?) but they could relax  outside without the dangers of running loose.

Never been a dog person. Too much like human children and I never had any of those, either.
