I've been eyeballing this new subforum for several days, waiting for someone to post, yet no one has! So I guess I'll get the ball rolling!
While not currently on the road, our family's story isn't all that unique. While on the road, we met many other families who, like us, sold their homes, bought an RV, and took off for the open road.
After living through a personally devastating year, we decided to sell our 5-bdrm, 4000 sqft "dream home", pack everything into storage, and hit the road with our six boys.
Finding a suitable camper to comfortably fit all of us wasn't easy, but we managed to get our hands on one. We traveled around the country for a year, homeschooling along the way.
At the end of our year, we "landed" in our rental property (and spent a summer fixing it up), and now we are back to being a plain old sticks-n-bricks family again.
We don't regret a minute of it. This fall we launched our two eldest boys (twins) into college, so they aren't with us anymore. I will never regret taking our last year as an intact family and being, well, a family. Together. Making memories.
So that's our story in a nutshell. Anyone else want to chime in?

I'm certain I speak for most of us when I say we enjoyed following your adventure through reading your posts. I think it is a remarkable story. It's still hard for me to imagine being in an RV with that many people. Sometimes just the two of us seems crowded. I'm happy you and your family were able to create some lasting and unforgettable memories.

We are into the second generation mode. Our grandson loves to travel with us. His mother spent the 1st. 4 years of her life full timing and many more growing up an extended travels life style. Non the worst for it I might add! My grandson at 9 years old is shopping for his family RV. We still travel,
extended, with him his mother and twin 2yr. old sisters. Oh, don't for get 3 fur kids a dog an 2 cat's
We are fortunate to have what is called a "Big Rig" so we are not exactly cramped.
I do know there are several traveling families in our ranks, one family I know has 4 younger children. All the families I have seen have great family relationships. Contrary to the publics general opinion.
I think your idea of having a traveling family thread would be very interesting.
Don't give up the "Hitch Itch" it wont be long before you enjoy a new crop travel companions.
HAPPY TRAILS&WE'LL WATCH FOR YA DOWN THE ROAD!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
