March 22 – 27, 2020 Called “The Big Easy”, New Orleans is one of the most fascinating cities in the United States; a melting pot of music, food and culture. New Orleans is rich in history and is known for the French Quarter, Jackson Square, and the National WWII Museum, to name a few. In the French Quarter, you can enjoy decadent Beignets and Cajun coffee or, savor mixed drinks in the restaurants and bars that line Bourbon Street. You can even enjoy shopping in the many gift shops! Enjoy the rocking chairs and cool breezes on the porches of the South’s most beautiful historical plantations, once renowned for their rich crops of sugar cane and cotton. Walk through the beautiful gardens located on the plantation. After the tour, enjoy the local cuisine during lunch. Enjoy watching animals in their natural habitat? Take an amazing swamp boat excursion and learn all about the history of the Cajun Bayous, since the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain are nesting grounds for many different species of birds, alligators and various other animals that call the swamps home. Upon returning to the dock, enjoy a famous Louisiana Country Boil for lunch. New Orleans has unique folklore, traditions and burial styles and traveling through the city, with a local docent, you will see historical above ground caskets, known as Crypts. In VIP setting, relax and enjoy Equestfest. See the beautiful horses outfitted in stunning parade attire. Watch talented riders perform trick-riding, precision drills and amazing rope tricks. Visit the stables and learn about the different breeds of horses. Get up close. Talk with the riders and take pictures; enjoy the vendors, the music and the food court! Listen to the beautiful music of the marching bands during Bandfest, and you will quickly see why these outstanding bands have been chosen to participate in this year’s Tournament of Roses Parade. At the Showcase of Floats, you can walk within a few feet of all the floats and see the meticulous workmanship that went into each one.
