We are thinking about staying at Baker's Hole in a couple of weeks but can't find any dates as to when it opens. Anyone have any idea what website has this info, not Recreation.gov.

It's an awesome campground.  We've been to Yellowstone often and stay in the park when we want to explore and do the trails.  Sometimes we want to visit Yellowstone in addition to the surrounding area and that's when we stay at Baker's Hole.  We like the dry sites to the rear along the Madison River.... lots of wildlife to be seen.  Try it sometime!

Don't just accept what is on an internet web site, call both the campground management office and the NF and verify the open dates.

Also if you have the time, on your day of arrival, drive your RV to Madison CG inside the park and see if they happen to have open campsites for your rig.  Yes it may cost you 2-3 hours of extra time/work, but the CG is awesome and about as close to some of the major attractions inside the park as you will get. 

If you spend the time over 3-4 days visiting the geyser basins you can get really close to some really awesome geysers and experience the water drop, the gurgling, rumbling and the up close power of the water and steam.  You do have to research at the visitor center and maybe spend 1-3 hours waiting for the eruption, but the wait is well worth it.  Norris has a couple of great geysers as well.

Thanks Al, I will give them a call as we get closer to the area. Yellowstone was just a side trip(filler) on our way to Alaska. Not even sure we will have time to stop there. Just checking the options. Would like to stop for a few days at least, we always enjoy Yellowstone early in the morning when it is cold out, all the thermals are smoking away and gives an eerie look. Especially like the Norris area.

Stop in Cody to visit the Buffalo Bill Museum of the West. Well worth the effort. 

Are you going north up the east side or the West side?  Either way visit Bannf then north up the Icefields Highway to Jasper. On our second trip to Alaska we went to Prince George and then to Dawson Creek to get to Mile Zero. Stop in Chetwynd to see the wood carvings located about the town.

We are going up the west side and coming home on the east side. Chetwynd is on the list as is Tumbler Ridge. We were on a tour years ago and Prince George had a lot of chain saw carvings also. Looking forward to just taking our time and seeing Alaska on our terms.

FYI, Howard and Linda from RV-Dreams.com just arrived in Yellowstone.  Pretty much nothing available in West Yellowstone except pretty dumpy places for $40-$50/night, so they headed over to Mammoth Hot Springs for camping.
