RV life provides numerous opportunities to explore various types of environments. When people picture a camping scenario, sandy beaches on the coast do not usually come to mind. Though many beaches prohibit vehicles near the shoreline, there are many beautiful beaches across the country that offer RV access, allowing you to enjoy the sand, surf, and stunning coastal views right from the comfort of your Class C motorhome, travel trailer, or other RV. If you are interested in vacationing on the coast this summer, RVT has provided a list of eight top beaches known for their RV-friendly access.

Jalama Beach County Park – California
Jalama Beach Park, California

Located near Santa Barbara, Jalama Beach County Park is a popular beach getaway with RV camping facilities. The beach features a beautiful stretch of sand and coastal cliffs – a haven away from the California busyness. The park has over 107 sites – all with access to Jalama Beach. In addition, the park has tent sites and cabins for rent. If you are an avid surfer, this beach also provides excellent waves for surfing. Once you have exhausted your time surfing and enjoying the scenic sunsets on the beach, check out some of the wineries located near the park.

Assateague Island National Seashore – Maryland
Assateague Island National Seashore, Maryland

Spanning both Maryland and Virginia, Assateague Island National Seashore is famous for its wild horses and RV-friendly beach camping. The sandy beaches and coastal dunes offer a tranquil setting for RV enthusiasts. Though camping is prohibited on the Virginia side of Assateague, you can enjoy all of the amenities located on the Maryland side where camping is encouraged with over 340 sites to choose from.

South Beach Campground – Washington

Open seasonally for dry camping only from May through September, South Beach Campground is a picturesque and stunning campground worth visiting in the Pacific Northwest. Located in Olympic National Park, this first-come, first-serve beachfront campground provides epic views of the Pacific Ocean as you park your RV on a bluff. South Beach Campground is the perfect getaway for the adventurous wilderness junkie, with ample opportunity to explore the lush scenery while being immersed amongst the various wildlife.

Padre Island National Seashore – Texas

Located on the Gulf Coast of Texas, Padre Island National Seashore is the longest underdeveloped barrier island in the world. It offers RV camping with beachfront access, in which RVs drive on the beach and park near the water. Along with its stellar beachfront accessibility, Padre Island National Seashore offers miles of sandy beaches to cruise, as well as plenty of areas for fishing and birdwatching.

Sea and Sand RV Park – Oregon

Providing picturesque views of the Pacific Ocean, this park is perfect for leisurely beachcombing or fishing along the coastline. If you desire even more entertainment, Sea and Sand RV Park is located near Lincoln City and Newport, which offer additional dining and shopping options.

Hunting Island State Park – South Carolina

Beverly Beach Camptown RV Resort – Florida

Laying at the foot of the Atlantic Ocean between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach, Beverly Beach Camptown RV Resort has the best of both worlds – a haven to enjoy the beach serenity, while also within close proximity of numerous things to do if you do not want to spend all day at the beach. Providing full hookups, full-service bathhouses, and laundry facilities, you definitely will not feel like you are boondocking at this resort. If you desire a further glamping experience, you can also lodge in one of the campground cabins on the beach.

Anastasia State Park – Florida

Before traveling to one of these beaches in your Class A motorhome, fifth wheel or any other RV, it is important to make a reservation well in advance. As these locations are hot spots, particularly in the summer, you’ll want to make sure you have a reserved spot before you arrive.
