8 Campgrounds with Great Military Discounts

Military members are vital to our country and many businesses show appreciation by providing discounts and perks to both active-duty members and veterans. Depending on the season, many campgrounds will offer special promotions for service members. If you are a member of any branch of the military, you won’t want to miss out on some of these opportunities this year. Whether you are active-duty or retired, RVT has compiled a list of eight campgrounds which offer some of the best military discounts across the nation.

1. KOA Kampgrounds

With over 500 locations across the U.S., KOA is a convenient campground to choose that provides a military discount. KOA offers percentage discounts to active and retired military personnel depending on the location. Some campgrounds offer around 7.5% off while others provide up to 15 percent off. Be sure to check in advance to assess the types of discounts near you.

2. Encore and Thousand Trails

If you are either active duty or retired, Encore and Thousands Trails RV Resorts are locations you definitely do not want to pass up. With over 200 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, all resorts offer a 20 percent discount to military personnel on camping fees. Use promo code “MILITARY20” to acquire the 20 percent off discount – this offer is valid for up to 6 nights, and proof of military service is required at check-in.

3. Jellystone Parks

With approximately 85 locations between Canada and the U.S., a majority of the parks offer a 10 percent discount for all military members. Additionally, depending on the campground, discounts to rent a cabin, cottage, or yurt can range between 10 and 20 percent. Take advantage of certain weekends as several campgrounds host Military Appreciation weekends – these special events will offer discounts up to 50 percent off.

4. Tents for Troops

A nationwide program to connect active military members, Tents for Troops provides accommodating opportunities for military families. With nearly 300 sites across 47 states, the RV parks and campgrounds offer a minimum of two nights complimentary camp or RV sites to active-duty families. Some of these parks include Diamond M Ranch Resort, Yosemite Pines RV Resort, Dubois Wind River, and Little Arrow Outdoor Resort. Additionally, a handful of parks offer RV units that can be rented for as little as 35 dollars per week.

5. Sun RV Resorts

Active duty and veterans can enjoy discounts including 20 percent off at select sites, as well as other limited time deals such as buy two nights, get one free. You can apply these savings by using the promo code “SALUTE”. With over 175 locations throughout the U.S. and Ontario, Canada, as you trek across the country, you are bound to come across one participating location.

6. Coffee Creek Ranch

With over 350 acres of land, Coffee Creek Ranch provides a relaxing escape for horseback riding, hiking, and gold panning. Families with active-duty or veteran service members can enjoy a year-round 25 percent discount, totaling less than $1000 for an entire week’s stay. These low rates include meals, internet, entertainment, and other amenities within the ranch.

7. Canaan Valley Resort

Located in the Allegheny Mountains, Canaan Valley Resort is a peaceful getaway in upper West Virginia. Along with its accommodating atmosphere, military members are offered a 15 percent discount on their expansive cabins and cottages, each with up to four bedrooms and furnished kitchens. Additionally, service members can enjoy up to 20 percent off on recreational activities that the camp provides.

8. Shadow Mountain Escape

Intended for couples only, Shadow Mountain Escape offers a year-round 10 percent discount to any active duty, retired, and veteran military member. Located a few minutes from the Shenandoah National Park entrance and Luray Caverns, this resort is a perfect getaway for you and your significant other. When making an online reservation, simply use the promo code “MILITARY” to apply the military discount.

Before you head to these campgrounds, it is always a good idea to call ahead and confirm the discounts, as policies can change from year to year. Additionally, be sure to pack all your necessities for the excursion, including your military ID and other documents you may need for the discounts – most campgrounds will require proof of military service to get the discounted rates.
